Original: Rent review – Jonathan Larson’s New York bohos move into the West End and unpack their passions
Jonathan Larson's landmark musical Rent has opened in London's West End, bringing its portrait of struggling bohemian artists in New York's East Village to a new audience. Reviews, including one in The Guardian, focus on how the production stages the show's themes of passion, poverty, love and loss, and how the classic 1990s story lands with British theatregoers today.
Why now: A major new West End production of a beloved Broadway musical always draws press coverage and debate among theatre fans.
