SF startup founders move into former art school dorms
Original: SF startup founders are living — and working — in old Academy of Art University dorms
Startup founders in San Francisco are living and working out of former Academy of Art University dormitories, according to the San Francisco Standard. The arrangement reflects the city's tight housing market and the pressures facing the struggling art school, which has been shrinking. Founders are turning unused student housing into cheap live-work space, a sign of how startups are adapting to high costs in San Francisco.
Why now: It highlights creative reuse of vacant student housing amid San Francisco's housing shortage and the art school's decline.
