SSAB halts work at Oxelösund plant after gas alarm

Original: ssab

Swedish steelmaker SSAB has paused operations and closed the Aronstorp facility in Oxelösund indefinitely following a gas alarm. Police say around 20 people were taken into custody after an operation at the industrial site. Authorities including the Work Environment Agency have carried out joint checks on the workforce at the large construction project. Swedish media are following the closure and its unclear duration closely.

Why now: A gas alarm triggering an indefinite plant closure and a police operation is a major industrial incident in Sweden right now.
