New six-hour documentary spotlights exiled Russian journalists
Original: Who’s afraid of a 6-hour documentary about exiled Russian journalists?
A six-hour documentary about Russian journalists forced into exile has drawn attention as it circulates internationally. The film examines the reporters who fled Russia after the crackdown on independent media following the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, and the question of who is threatened by their work. It is being discussed as a rare, long-form look at press freedom in exile.
Why now: Viewers are reacting to the unusually long format and its portrait of Russia's exiled independent press at a time of continued censorship.
