YouTube, Meta, and Twitch silent on live-streaming US execution

Original: YouTube, Meta, and Twitch won’t say if they’ll allow the US government to live stream an execution

The US government is seeking to livestream the execution of Nidal Hasan, the Army psychiatrist convicted of the 2009 Fort Hood shooting, and has asked major platforms to carry it. YouTube, Meta, and Twitch have so far refused to say whether they would allow the broadcast, leaving open how — or whether — the public would be able to watch online.

Why now: A first-of-its-kind request to livestream an execution raises unresolved questions about platform policies on government violence broadcasts.
