Meryl Streep joins Julia Loktev's 'My Undesirable Friends' as executive producer
Original: Meryl Streep Almost Didn’t Watch the Six-Hour ‘My Undesirable Friends’ — Then, Colin Firth Led Her to Executive Produce
Meryl Streep says she nearly skipped Julia Loktev's six-hour documentary 'My Undesirable Friends', but Colin Firth encouraged her to watch it — and she was moved enough to come on board as an executive producer. The film follows Russian journalists after the invasion of Ukraine, and Streep's involvement is giving the documentary fresh attention ahead of its release.
Why now: Streep's backing and the unusual six-hour length of a documentary about Russian journalists are drawing film-world attention.
