House GOP report says Denver, Boulder ignored ICE detainers in abuse cases
Original: Denver, Boulder ignored ICE detainers for migrants with child abuse, assault arrests, House GOP report reveals
A House Republican report accuses Denver and Boulder of ignoring federal ICE detainers on migrants who had been arrested on charges including child abuse and assault. The findings reignite criticism of Colorado's sanctuary-style policies, with Republicans arguing the cities release dangerous suspects, while local officials have defended limiting cooperation with federal immigration enforcement.
Why now: The new House GOP report has just put the sanctuary policy debate back in the headlines amid heightened national attention on immigration.
