Lib Dem MP challenges Ed Davey
A Liberal Democrat backbench MP has publicly challenged party leader Sir Ed Davey, according to reports circulating in UK political circles. The nature of the dispute is not fully detailed, but the public split within a party that has projected unity under Davey's leadership is drawing attention from commentators and rivals alike. Observers are watching whether this signals wider unease in the parliamentary party.
Why now: Public criticism of a party leader by one of their own MPs is rare and raises questions about internal Liberal Democrat cohesion.
