The NBA has issued a statement defending its second apron salary rules after a New York Knicks player said the system 'sucks' for middle-class players. The league pushed back on criticism that the harsher luxury tax tier hurts roster depth and mid-level earners, arguing the rules promote competitive balance across the league. The exchange has reignited debate among players, teams and fans about the collective bargaining agreement's impact.
