American Bird Conservancy is calling on the public to speak up for ospreys in the Chesapeake Bay, launching an action alert tied to the birds' declining food supply, particularly Atlantic menhaden, a key forage fish. The campaign links federal menhaden management decisions to osprey breeding success, and supporters are being urged to contact decision-makers before regulatory deadlines.
Why now: Menhaden management decisions affecting osprey food supply are under consideration, prompting a push for public comments.
