Original: 列車
A woman in her 70s and her son in his 40s from Gunma Prefecture have been referred to prosecutors on suspicion of endangering railway traffic after their car slid down an embankment onto the JR Iiyama Line. The three occupants had parked on a path to photograph trains; on returning, the car rolled and fell about 8.5 metres onto the tracks. No injuries were reported, but services were suspended for roughly three and a half hours.
Why now: The unusual circumstances of the incident, photographing trains leading to a line suspension and criminal referral, are drawing public attention in Japan.
