Margaret Atwood's dystopian novel The Handmaid's Tale is being banned in some school districts, drawing sharp criticism from readers who see the move as an attempt to suppress a story about resisting authoritarianism. Critics call the bans deplorable but predictable, arguing that censors fear the book's anti-fascist themes. Questions are also being raised about other targeted authors, including comics writer Ryan North, with readers questioning the breadth of current censorship efforts.
