Calls for Congress to Block Televised Execution of Fort Hood Shooter
Original: Congress Must Prevent Livestream Execution of Fort Hood Shooter
The Project On Government Oversight is urging Congress to intervene to prevent the federal execution of the Fort Hood shooter from being broadcast or livestreamed. The group argues that airing an execution would be inappropriate and is pressing lawmakers to act to keep it from happening. Discussion is centered on how the death sentence would be carried out and whether Congress can or should step in.
Why now: A watchdog group's call for congressional action over a potential broadcast of the execution has drawn attention to the case.
