Zelenskyy accuses Trump of 'smokescreen' oil deal in Ukraine war talks

Original: Zelenskyy accuses Trump of ‘smokescreen’ oil deal amid talks to end Ukraine war

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has accused Donald Trump of pursuing a 'smokescreen' oil deal while negotiations continue over ending the war in Ukraine. The remarks suggest Kyiv fears US-led peace efforts may be driven partly by economic interests, particularly access to Russian oil, rather than Ukraine's sovereignty or security concerns.

Why now: Fresh tensions between Zelenskyy and Trump over the motives behind US-brokered peace negotiations are drawing wide attention.
