Zelensky: Letting Russia sell fuel funds its war
Original: Zelensky: Letting Russia sell fuel means investing in its war Gifts to Putin will not bring peace or any benefit to the
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky criticized any easing of restrictions allowing Russia to sell fuel, saying such moves amount to investing in Russia's war effort. He argued that "gifts to Putin" will not bring peace or benefit the civilized world, and that Russia would repay any diesel concessions with further terror and atrocities. The remarks come amid ongoing debate in Western capitals over sanctions, energy trade and how to pressure Moscow to end its invasion of Ukraine.
Why now: Ongoing debate in the West over sanctions and energy trade with Russia keeps Zelensky's warnings about fuel sales highly relevant.
