Wildlife Safari in Oregon denied zoo accreditation

Original: Wildlife Safari in Winston denied accreditation by Association of Zoos & Aquariums

Wildlife Safari, a drive-through zoological park in Winston, Oregon, has been denied accreditation by the Association of Zoos & Aquariums, the leading US accrediting body for zoos and aquariums. The decision was reported by Oregon Public Broadcasting and NPR's Oregon outlet. The park can continue operating, but losing accreditation affects standing within the zoo community and could complicate animal transfers and breeding programs. No detailed reason for the denial has been given in initial reports.

Why now: The denial of accreditation from the leading US zoo body is a significant development for a well-known regional attraction.
