Colorado rethinks when wolves can be killed over livestock
Original: As Colorado reevaluates when to kill wolves involved in livestock conflict, how do other Western states handle it
Colorado is reviewing its policy on when gray wolves involved in livestock conflicts can be lethally removed, and is looking at how other Western states handle the issue. The debate touches on the state's voter-approved wolf reintroduction program, with ranchers pushing for faster action against problem wolves and conservationists urging restraint. Policies in neighboring states are being compared as Colorado weighs changes.
Why now: Colorado is actively reevaluating its wolf management rules amid ongoing conflict between reintroduced wolves and livestock producers.
