Original: The 3dfx Voodoo story: as the graphics card tech turns 30, we talk to cofounder

The 3dfx Voodoo graphics card, which popularised 3D acceleration for PC gaming in the 1990s, turns 30 this year. Club386 spoke with 3dfx cofounder Ross Smith about the company's rise, its Glide API dominance in the late 1990s, and its eventual decline after Nvidia's competition led to 3dfx's collapse and acquisition in 2000.

Why now: The 30th anniversary of a landmark graphics technology is prompting nostalgic reflection and a rare interview with a cofounder.
