Moolenaar urges Pentagon to blacklist 58 more Chinese universities
Original: Moolenaar asks Pentagon to add 58 more Chinese universities to blacklist
US Representative John Moolenaar has asked the Pentagon to add 58 more Chinese universities to its blacklist, expanding restrictions on academic and research institutions with alleged military ties. The move would subject the listed schools to tighter export-control and funding restrictions. Moolenaar, who chairs the House committee focused on China, has been pushing to broaden scrutiny of Chinese academic institutions, and the request is drawing attention in policy and startup circles.
Why now: It signals a possible expansion of US restrictions on Chinese universities with military-linked research ties.
