Ayaka Furue takes early lead at Stanley Ladies after flood delay

Original: ゴルフ

The Stanley Ladies Honda women's golf tournament opened at Tomei Country Club with Ayaka Furue firing a 7-under to take the first-round lead. The event goes ahead one month after heavy flooding submerged the course, organizers calling it an unprecedented recovery effort. Elsewhere, Kotone Hori says she enjoyed golf again and has not given up on qualifying for the TOTO Japan Classics.

Why now: Furue's strong opening round and the tournament's recovery from a major flood are drawing attention in Japanese golf news.
