Sound artist Kat Turner has released field and music recordings made during an oceanographic voyage with the British Antarctic Survey. Listeners are praising the work, with fellow sound recordists noting how difficult it is to capture clean audio at sea, where ship engines, generators and wind usually drown out everything else.

Why now: People are sharing the recordings because capturing usable field recordings on an Antarctic research voyage is rare and technically impressive.
