Amazon has announced Jac Schaeffer as the new showrunner for its Stargate series, and reaction from fans has been swift and hostile. Many are criticising the decision within hours of the announcement, with some complaining that a previously planned series from Martin Gero has been dropped in the process.
Why now: Amazon's announcement of a new showrunner, reportedly at the cost of Martin Gero's version, has instantly split an already passionate sci-fi fanbase.
