The whistleblower at the centre of the case involving Manchester City is to remain in witness protection, according to a BBC Sport report. The individual, who provided information relating to the club, will continue to be kept under protective arrangements. The news is drawing attention because of the sensitivity of the allegations against the Premier League club and the rarity of witness protection being linked to a football governance case.

Why now: The ongoing Manchester City case remains one of football's biggest governance stories, and news of the whistleblower's protection renews interest in it.
