Vance doubts Pentagon plan to livestream Fort Hood execution
Original: Vance expresses doubts about Pentagon plan to livestream Fort Hood shooter's execution
Vice President JD Vance has voiced doubts about a Pentagon proposal to livestream the execution of the Fort Hood shooter, the 2009 attack carried out by Major Nidal Hasan that killed 13 people. The comments put the vice president at odds with a defense department plan for the long-delayed military death penalty case, and the debate has drawn attention to how such an execution would be broadcast publicly.
Why now: A senior official publicly criticizing a Pentagon plan over a notorious mass shooting case is newsworthy and controversial.
