Trump attacks Norway over Nobel Peace Prize decision
Original: 'Stain on the country': Trump criticises Norway over Nobel Peace Prize
Donald Trump has criticised Norway, calling the awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize a 'stain on the country'. The comments come after the Norwegian Nobel Committee in Oslo chose a laureate other than the US president, who had openly campaigned for the honour. The remark escalates tensions with a longtime NATO ally and has drawn international attention.
Why now: Trump publicly lashed out after being passed over for the Nobel Peace Prize, prompting debate about the committee's decision and US-Norway relations.
