Sweden's SAQ Grimeton station, home to the world's only working Alexanderson alternator, will transmit a special longwave message to mark United Nations Day. Amateur radio enthusiasts and heritage broadcasters worldwide are sharing the announcement, as the UNESCO-listed transmitter makes only a handful of scheduled transmissions each year, drawing listeners and ham operators across the globe.
Why now: The heritage longwave transmitter only transmits on rare special occasions, and radio hobbyists are excited about the United Nations Day broadcast.
