Trump says Hurricane Isaias 'under control' as Gulf states brace

Original: Donald Trump: Hurricane Isaias 'under control,' Florida, Alabama issue warnings

President Donald Trump declared Hurricane Isaias 'under control' even as Florida and Alabama issued warnings ahead of the storm's approach along the US southeast coast. State authorities urged residents to prepare for possible landfall, heavy rain and strong winds. The discrepancy between the president's reassurance and official emergency warnings drew attention, recalling earlier disputes over his public statements on hurricane response.

Why now: A hurricane threatening the US coast is dominating news, with the president's 'under control' remark clashing with official warnings.
