Russia Highlights Chess Diplomacy for Humanitarian Cooperation
Original: Chess Diplomacy as a Tool of Humanitarian Cooperation
Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has promoted the idea of 'chess diplomacy' as a tool for humanitarian cooperation. The concept frames the game of chess as a neutral, culturally respected medium through which countries can maintain dialogue and build people-to-people ties even amid political tension. The message underscores Moscow's broader effort to present cultural and intellectual exchange as a channel for soft power and international goodwill.
Why now: Russia's foreign ministry is actively promoting cultural diplomacy themes, drawing attention to chess as a symbol of international engagement.
