SCO holds first joint counter-terrorism drill in Belarus
The Shanghai Cooperation Organisation is conducting its first joint counter-terrorism exercise on Belarusian territory. The drill brings together member states' security forces to practise coordinated responses to terrorist threats, marking a notable expansion of the bloc's military-security cooperation into Eastern Europe. Details on participating contingents and the exercise scenario remain limited so far.
Why now: It is the first time the SCO has staged such a drill in Belarus, a development with geopolitical significance given the country's proximity to NATO members.
