Crazy Rich Asians sequel confirmed, but not as a film

Original: hbo

The Crazy Rich Asians franchise is officially getting a sequel, and the original cast is expected to return. The twist: it will not be a theatrical movie. The project is tied to HBO's streaming operation, continuing the story of the 2018 box-office hit after years of stalled sequel plans. Fans are debating whether a series format can recapture the film's success.

Why now: News broke that the long-awaited follow-up to Crazy Rich Asians is moving forward in a new format with the original cast.
