Donald Trump is under fire over an alleged deal to buy Russian diesel from Vladimir Putin weeks before the US midterm elections. Critics, including the MeidasTouch network, say the purchase would funnel money directly into Russia's war effort in Ukraine, and some are calling on Congress to block the deal and pursue impeachment. Energy analysts quoted in coverage suggest the deal is unlikely to succeed commercially, but the political backlash is growing as voters head to the polls.
