Royal Caribbean ship circles after passenger goes overboard
Original: royal caribbean overboard
A Royal Caribbean cruise ship declared an 'Oscar' emergency code and circled for hours after a passenger went overboard following an incident involving an inflatable ring. The captain's announcement signaled a man-overboard situation, with the vessel returning to search the area. Searches and rescue operations of this kind are rare and typically draw widespread attention because of the difficulty of spotting a person at sea.
Why now: A man-overboard emergency aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise ship is alarming breaking news for the many people currently sailing or planning cruises.
