A proposal for a temporary consensus government is being debated as a way to advance Palestinian self-determination both in the homeland and among the diaspora. Commentators argue the Palestinian struggle needs a unified nation-building project, though it remains unclear what form such a government would take or who would back it.
Why now: Ongoing discussions about Palestinian political unity amid the Gaza conflict are prompting debate over new governance proposals.
