Scientists experience weightlessness aboard CNES parabolic flight
Original: Scientists Become 'Astronauts' for a Day: Inside the CNES Plane Defying the Laws of Physics
Scientists in France briefly became 'astronauts for a day' aboard a CNES aircraft used for parabolic flights, which creates short periods of weightlessness for research. The plane, often called the 'zero-gravity' plane, flies in steep arcs so occupants float as if gravity has switched off, allowing experiments and astronaut training without going to space.
Why now: Interest in the rare behind-the-scenes look at how CNES simulates weightlessness for scientific research.
