Donald Trump said New York City officials published a map of ethnic communities that includes Little Senegal, Haiti and Yemen but omits Little Italy, and threatened to withhold federal money. He said his administration would 'work on that right away' or New York would not receive the billions of dollars it wants to spend, a remark drawing attention for tying federal funding to a neighbourhood-naming dispute.

Why now: Trump's threat to cut billions in federal funding to New York City over a map is a provocative and unusual intervention that people are reacting to.
