Bayern Munich in the spotlight after Der Klassiker drama

Original: bayern munich

Bayern Munich is dominating football talk worldwide after a chaotic week: Harry Kane won the Ballon d'Or, Vincent Kompany was hospitalised, Bayern drew 2-2 with Augsburg and then 2-2 with Borussia Dortmund in Der Klassiker. Captain Joshua Kimmich called the rivalry 'unnecessary', while club official Rouven Kasper claimed Der Klassiker now rivals El Clasico. Injury concerns and debate over young talent Lennart Karl add to the discussion.

Why now: A dramatic week of results, Kane's Ballon d'Or win, Kompany's hospitalisation and spicy quotes around Der Klassiker have put Bayern Munich at the centre of global football conversation.
