YouTuber Says Police Visited Him After Camera Tracking Cops
Original: YouTuber Says Cops Paid Him a Visit After He Built Flock-Style Camera to Track Cops It turns out that the gander is not
A YouTuber who built a Flock-style automated camera system to track police vehicles says officers paid him a visit following the project. The setup mirrored the surveillance technology widely deployed to monitor the public, but pointed the other way at law enforcement. The case is drawing attention to concerns over surveillance transparency and whether police are comfortable being watched by the same tools they use on citizens.
Why now: The irony of police reacting to being surveilled by their own surveillance-style technology is resonating amid ongoing debates about automated license plate readers and privacy.
