Hackaday published a column arguing that some of the strangest video games in history began life as hacks — unofficial modifications of existing games and hardware rather than original commercial releases. The piece explores how hobbyists repurposed consoles and code to create odd, inventive titles that mainstream developers would never have made, and it is being shared among technology and gaming enthusiasts.
Why now: The nostalgic and unusual history of hacked-together games appeals to retro gaming and hacking communities.
