EuroLeague seeks stake in Adriatic League ownership
Original: EuroLeague Targets Adriatic League Stake to Expand European Influence EuroLeague is planning to join the ownership group
EuroLeague is planning to join the ownership group of the Adriatic League, the regional competition featuring clubs from the Balkans. Talks between the two organisations have already taken place, with EuroLeague aiming to eventually secure a controlling stake. The move would strengthen EuroLeague's influence over European basketball beyond its main continental competition, raising questions about the future independence of the Adriatic League and how its clubs would fit into the wider European basketball structure.
Why now: Reports of EuroLeague negotiations to buy into the Adriatic League signal a significant consolidation of power in European club basketball.
