DirectHop: Tiny One-Gram Robot Hops Precisely Over Stairs
Original: First Look at DirectHop, the Tiny One Gram Robot Precisely Hops Over Stairs with Motor Control
A first look at DirectHop, a tiny robot weighing just one gram, shows it hopping precisely over stairs using motor control. The miniature jumping machine is drawing attention for demonstrating such agile locomotion at an extremely small scale, a notable feat in robotics where stabilising controlled hops in something so light is a serious engineering challenge.
Why now: Demonstrations of remarkably small, agile robots tend to spark interest among robotics fans and engineers
