Kauri dieback may reshape forest carbon storage
Original: “Kauri dieback threatens more than trees: it could change how much carbon forests store” # Asutralia # Trees # Nature #
Kauri dieback disease, which has been killing kauri trees in New Zealand, could have consequences beyond tree loss. New research suggests the disease may alter how much carbon kauri forests are able to store, with implications for climate accounting and forest management as infected stands decline.
Why now: New research links a well-known forest disease to carbon storage, connecting conservation concerns to climate change.
