Original: аршавин
Former Russia captain Andrey Arshavin said that Lionel Messi is, in his view, the greatest player in the history of football. The remark, carried by Sportbox, comes as debate continues among players and fans over how to rank Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and past legends such as Diego Maradona and Pelé.
Why now: Argentine star Lionel Messi remains at the centre of ongoing debates about the greatest footballer of all time, and comments from a well-known ex-player fuel that discussion.
