Helping Ukraine Defeat Russia Seen as Way to Avoid Wider NATO War

Original: "... The best way to avoid American soldiers having to fight Russian soldiers in a NATO country is to help Ukrainian war

Commentators are arguing that the surest way to keep American soldiers out of a direct fight with Russian troops in a NATO country is to help Ukraine defeat Russia's army on its own soil. The argument calls for more weapons for Ukraine and tougher sanctions on Russia, framing continued Western support as the cheapest way to prevent a larger war in Europe.

Why now: Ongoing debate in the US and Europe over the scale of military aid to Ukraine amid fears of escalation with Russia.
