Running local AI jobs overnight on an old laptop
Original: How-To Geek - Article "5 local AI tasks I run overnight on a laptop most people would throw away"... https://www. howtog
How-To Geek has published a guide describing five local AI tasks the author runs overnight on an old laptop that most people would discard. The piece argues that slow, low-power hardware is enough for batch AI jobs like transcription, image processing, and file organisation, as long as time constraints are loose. The article is being shared in open-source and Linux communities, where users discuss extending the life of ageing machines with self-hosted AI tools.
Why now: Interest in running AI locally on cheap or discarded hardware is growing among open-source enthusiasts.
