Original: Necrophilia, sex acts and witchcraft: Records show the books parents find objectionable and want removed
Records reviewed by the Concord Monitor show the specific complaints parents have filed against library and school books, objecting to depictions of necrophilia, sex acts and witchcraft. The reporting sheds light on what exactly prompts challenges, as debates over book removals continue in school districts across the United States between parents, librarians and school boards.
Why now: Ongoing national debates over book bans and parental challenges to school library materials keep this topic in the news.
