Are Belgium, Italy and France really 'poor sides'?
Original: Poor sides? Belgium, Italy, and France are poor sides?
Belgium, Italy and France are being dismissed by some fans as weak teams, prompting pushback. Critics of that view point to the three nations' strong footballing records, including World Cup and European Championship pedigree, and argue that recent dips in form do not make them 'poor sides'. The debate is drawing attention from supporters in France and Italy, where the claim is being hotly contested.
Why now: Football fans are arguing over a claim that three of Europe's traditional powerhouses are now weak teams, likely after recent results.
