Chinese Cars Can't Cross From Canada to U.S., Trump's Envoy Says
Original: Chinese Cars Can’t Cross From Canada to U.S., Trump’s Envoy Says
An envoy for Donald Trump says Chinese-made cars will not be allowed to cross the border from Canada into the United States. The statement underscores tightening scrutiny of Chinese vehicles entering North American markets, amid broader concerns in Washington over competition from China's auto industry and possible tariffs on vehicles assembled or routed through third countries like Canada.
Why now: US trade policy toward Chinese vehicles, including tariffs and border restrictions, is a hot topic ahead of the election and in ongoing trade debates.
