Haze pushes Singapore PSI into very unhealthy range
Original: 霾
Thick haze from cross-border forest fires has worsened air quality across Singapore and parts of Malaysia. Singapore's 24-hour PSI has exceeded 200, entering the very unhealthy range, and authorities expect conditions to remain unhealthy over the next 24 hours. The National Environment Agency is monitoring the situation, preparing to open shelters and distribute N95 masks, while Malaysia has suspended classes in several states and ASEAN nations are discussing joint action on transboundary haze.
Why now: Air pollution has sharply deteriorated across Singapore and Malaysia, prompting official health measures and regional concern.
