Oilers lean on defence in stingy win over Sharks

Original: Oilers turn in stingy effort against Sharks: 'It's boring, but it's worth it' https://www. nytimes.com/athletic/7678757/

The Edmonton Oilers beat the San Jose Sharks on Saturday with a defence-first performance, limiting chances in a low-scoring game. Players and coaches framed the approach as unglamorous but necessary, with the phrase 'it's boring, but it's worth it' summing up the mood. Connor McDavid and the Oilers' defensive structure were central to the discussion.

Why now: The Oilers' unusually defence-focused win over the Sharks is drawing attention as a sign of a championship-minded shift in style.
