Original: ICE Shooting Sparks Fear, Outrage in Marble Hill’s Immigrant Community
An ICE-involved shooting in Marble Hill, a Bronx neighborhood with a large immigrant population, has left residents afraid and angry. Community members are voicing outrage over federal immigration enforcement tactics, and advocates report heightened fear among immigrants who worry about their safety and are increasingly reluctant to go about daily life or interact with authorities.
Why now: Immigration enforcement and the use of force by federal agents are sharply contested issues, and the shooting has intensified anxiety in an affected immigrant community.
